Google Wave enhance social presence?

Now people are talking about Google Wave which is a new way to communicate with other and a new form of CMC.  How may Google Wave support online social presence?

    Perhaps academic researches need to examine this particular area because Google Wave, as new form of CMC, functions differently. Hope Google will make Wave accounts available for academic research.
